How are stainless steel strips made?

Stainless steel belt is an important material widely used in industry, construction, home decoration and other fields. It has excellent corrosion resistance, strength and toughness, and can meet the requirements of material properties in different fields. So, how is the stainless steel belt made?

The manufacturing process of stainless steel tape can be roughly divided into the following steps:

Raw material preparation

The main raw materials of stainless steel belt are high-carbon ferrochrome, nickel, molybdenum and other alloying elements. These raw materials need to undergo smelting, refining and continuous casting processes to obtain billets suitable for the production of stainless steel strips.

Smelting and refining

The pre-treated raw material is added to a converter or electric furnace for melting and refining at high temperatures. In this process, stainless steel with different composition and properties can be obtained by adding appropriate alloying elements and adjusting the melting temperature.

Continuous casting

After melting and refining, the stainless steel liquid is continuously cast through the continuous casting machine to form a certain thickness of the steel plate. It is necessary to control parameters such as temperature, speed and cooling in the continuous casting process to ensure the microstructure and performance of the steel plate.

Roll

The steel plates obtained by continuous casting are further processed into stainless steel strips of the required thickness and width through rolling processes such as hot or cold rolling. Rolling force, rolling speed, temperature and other parameters need to be controlled in the rolling process to ensure the dimensional accuracy and surface quality of the stainless steel strip.

Surface treatment

The rolled stainless steel strip needs surface treatment, such as pickling, polishing, sandblasting, etc., to remove surface oxides, oil and other impurities, and improve the surface quality and corrosion resistance of the stainless steel strip.

Cutting and packing

The surface treated stainless steel strip is cut to the required length and packaged for transport and use.

In general, the manufacturing process of stainless steel tape needs to go through a number of links, each link requires strict process control and quality management to ensure the quality and performance of the final product. At the same time, with the continuous progress of science and technology and the continuous development of industry, the manufacturing technology of stainless steel belt is also constantly updated and improved to meet the changing market demand.
